Personal Training: What is it all about?

DY Blog March 17th 2019

Have you ever thought what it might be like to have a personal trainer? But then, on second thought, you didn’t think it was something you could manage financially or otherwise - worried that it wouldn’t be all you had committed to? Today, I wanted to share my approach to personal training with you to help you make the best decision to help kickstart you to feel your best.

Book a consultation. Before you commit to ANYTHING we will meet in person. This will allow us to get to know each other and have me learn more about you. I want to know what you’re looking for, your expectations of me, previous history of injuries, sleep and nutritional habits, and  what has and hasn’t worked for you in the past. Personal training is a financial and time commitment that I want you to feel good about making.

Understand my approach. Not all trainers are the same and not everyone jives well with all trainers. I like people to truly understand my approach and philosophy to know that I am the best fit to help guide them to where they want to go. I take a holistic approach focusing on not just movement, but helping you manage your nutrition, sleep, stress levels, and more. Exercise is one small piece of the puzzle to being your best self. Although some clients want to lose weight, I don’t make a strong focus there. I believe that with proper movement patterns, safe execution, and proper management of your sleep, nutrition, and stress, your body composition will naturally change as we progress.

You decide your schedule. Ideally I would love to see all clients multiple times a week, but I know that is not practical or realistic for everyone. I am here for you to succeed in whatever capacity that might be. Some clients I see multiple times a week and some only once. I ensure that you are well-equipped to get your workouts in on your own. Although everyone can benefit from having a coach, I want to know that you have the confidence to complete your workout, safely and effectively, regardless of whether or not I am present.

Be committed. As I have mentioned above, personal training is a commitment. You are committing to me. I am committing to you. But, most importantly, you are committing to yourself. I am your guide but ultimately it is with your hard work that you will be feeling your best from the inside out!

If you have questions about personal training with me, let me know! If you wish I lived closer to you, stay tuned…working on something exciting for those outside of Toronto :)

Yours in self-discovery,

Rachel
