My 6 month check in

Is anyone else like me at the start of a new year, busy setting goals, dreaming up dreams, and creating intentions for the 12 months ahead? With the new year brings a new wave of motivation and inspiration to make this upcoming year the best one yet! Feeling me on this? Well, now looking back half way through the year, it is a good time to slow down and reflect on those January goals.

In all honesty, I don’t get too caught up in the whole new year’s resolution thing because I think goals can be set and conquered any time. But this year was a little different. This year I actually wrote them down! I decided to divide my goals up into the three categories of professional, personal, and health goals. I set goals for the first 3-6 months and then goals for the last 6-12 months of the year. Some have been accomplished and other things have yet to be tackled.

With the official start of summer I am now realizing that some goals need to be modified, redrawn, and adjusted based on where my year and life has gone thus far. I am not stressed or disappointed with where I am at. In fact, the way things are going, my year is gaining more momentum than I could have ever imagined.

I’ve decided to focus on these three things to continue on this upward swing all the way through until the end of December!

Doing away with all the lists! I will be the first to admit that I love creating lists, crossing off the accomplishments, and setting new lists to stay organized. However, I find that I often get so fixated on the list of things to do, tasks to complete, and goals to accomplish that I lose the feeling of living in the moment. My goal, especially for the summer months, is to plan a little less and go with the flow a little more!

Recognizing things dont always go as planned. I had really good intentions to accomplish certain things this year, but now as we approach the end of June I am realizing I need to make a shift. Whatever won’t happen only means it is so I can make room for other things in its place! Plans always shift - it is about staying in the process and not getting fixated on any end goal.

Celebrate the wins! I am extremely guilty of wondering what is next. I am currently in this phase right now. I need to remember to take a step back to celebrate the victories and accomplishments I have made this year before hunkering down again into the next big thing.

Happy first day of Summer! Enjoy all the sunshine!

Yours in self-discovery,

Rachel
